Her achievements as a young performer in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would be a sure signification for her to the category of child prodigies. A child of Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family did this naturally. Maureen entered this caring haven on August 17, 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share in "The Shamrock Rovers" an eminent Irish soccer team. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely proficient in them. The passion for sports was matched by the natural ability to perform. That was apparent when she won every Feis for theatre and drama the Irish had to offer. In her 14th year, she joined an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying classical theatre and operatic vocals.
